Freeman’s Village FC were 4-2 winners over CPTSA Wings when they met in Division Two of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) competition at the Johnson’s playing field on Tuesday.
The Village men were led by Kallique Kellman who scored a double with strikes in minutes 56 and 82. Leroy Hunte and Kevin Gregory also got in on the action with single conversions, netting in minutes 47 and 69 respectively.
Both conversions for Wings came from the penalty spot. Rickoy Johnson was the kicker on both occasions, putting his team ahead on minute 31 before returning to the spot to score a second on minute 61.
The win moves Freeman’s Village to the top of the standings with 24 points after 11 showings, one point ahead of Attacking Saints and Jennings United who both have 23 points.
Wings, after suffering what was their seventh loss, remains on 10 points in the bottom half of the 15-team standings.
There was victory as well for English Harbour as they beat Belmont FC 2-0 when they met at the ABF’s technical center on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway.
Jahleel Goodwin opened the scoring for the former champions in the 19th minute while Oshane Blackwood increased his team’s advantage just eight minutes later. The win moves Harbour to 16 points from 11 matches and fifth in the standings while Belmont remains on 13 points from nine matches.
In the other match contested Tuesday, FC Master Ballers edged Golden Grove 1-0 at Golden Grove. The lone goal of the match came in minute 84 when Shareem Richards scored from close range.
