A knock of 83 from Tanez Francis highlighted the performance of Jennings Secondary School (JSS) as they beat Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS) by 88 runs in the Cool & Smooth/Joma Schools Cricket Competition on Monday.
Francis’ knock came after Jennings won the toss and opted to bat, posting 194 for two in their 18 overs. J’Quan Athanaze contributed with 38 while Estan Hill finished on 19 not out. Bowling for OCS, Akez Francis picked up two wickets for 43 runs in his four overs.
Athanaze with four for 36 and Dale Johansen with three for 36, then combined their efforts as they removed OCS for 106. K. Knight top scored for OCS with 23 runs while V. Bowers added 19.
Meanwhile, a half century from national youth cricketer Matthew Miller helped to propel the Antigua Grammar School (AGS) to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Sir Novelle Richards Academy (SNRA).

Chasing the 109 made by Sir Novelle, Miller struck six fours and four sixes on his way to 62 off just 27 balls, guiding AGS to 111 for two in 12.1 overs. Miller had help from Hosea Roberts who made 29 from 27 balls with four fours. Sir Novelle bowled 18 extras which included 14 wides. There was a wicket each for Brian Balgobin (1/7) and Raffique Mohabir (1/14) bowling for Sir Novelle.
Earlier, Isiah Harris bagged three wickets for 12 runs in four overs while Miller and Rolando Fields picked up one each to help AGS restrict Sir Novelle to 109 in 18 overs. Balgobin top scored with 29 not out while Sheldon Charles chipped in with 21 from 17 balls.
In the other match contested, Pares Secondary School (PSS) beat Clare Hall Secondary School (CHSS) by 40 runs.
Pares posted 129 for four in their 18 overs with Tayari Tonge hitting 84. Clare Hall were then restricted to 89 for six in their allotment of 18 overs.
