Forum to examine youth unemployment in the Caribbean

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Dec 5, CMC – A one-day forum addressing the challenges of youth unemployment in the Caribbean will be held here on Wednesday.

It is being organised by the Organization of American States (OAS) in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Entitled “Towards Concrete Solutions for Addressing Youth Employment in the Caribbean” the organisers said that the delegates will use the opportunity of the presence in Barbados of ministers and senior officials attending the XX Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labour.

“The forum will address the challenge of youth unemployment in the English-Speaking Caribbean and the need for urgent action. The forum is structured to produce concrete actionable items to create sustainable youth employment. Successful global and regional initiatives will be presented and considered during the Forum,” they said in a statement, adding that “this event can facilitate the process of charting the course for exploring new opportunities for the employment of our young people”.
