As Antigua and Barbuda proudly welcomes Frontier Airlines’ inaugural flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Antigua today, adding to this exciting moment is the inspiring journey of T’Quan James, a young Antiguan and proud graduate of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Cadet Corps, who has recently joined Frontier Airlines as a Flight Attendant.

According to a press release from the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, James — a  graduate of the Tourism Cadet Corps programme in 2018 — credits the initiative with shaping his career path and fuelling his interest in aviation.

“I joined the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Cadet Corps because of my passion for the tourism industry and my desire to learn more about the country’s hospitality sector,” he said.

“The programme provided an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, and understand the role tourism plays in Antigua and Barbuda’s economy.”

Launched in 2003 by former Director of Tourism Shirlene Nibbs, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Cadet programme spearheaded by the Ministry of Tourism is designed to educate secondary and tertiary students about all aspects of the very vital tourism industry. The Tourism Cadet Corps programme aids in identifying, nurturing and changing perceptions ensuring a safer and more sustainable future in tourism.

During his time as a tourism cadet, James was exposed to various facets of the tourism industry, including customer service, hospitality, and destination marketing. His growing appreciation for travel and tourism naturally led him to explore opportunities in aviation, recognizing the crucial role airlines play in the success of Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism sector.

He secured a position as a Flight Attendant with Frontier Airlines in January 2025.

Reflecting on his journey, James shared: “Working with Frontier Airlines has been an exciting and rewarding experience. I’ve had the chance to work in a fast-paced environment, interact with people from diverse backgrounds, and grow my knowledge of the aviation sector.

“The company provides great learning opportunities, and I’ve enjoyed being part of a team dedicated to delivering excellent service.

“It’s exciting to see Frontier Airlines expanding its routes and contributing to the growth of Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism industry,” James added.

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority extends congratulations to Tquan James on his achievement and welcomes Frontier Airlines to the destination on February 15, 2025.
