Flyers rebound as Ovals stop Full Throttle

Former Division One basketball champions, Flyers Basketball, rebounded from a shocking loss to newcomers Spanish Heat over the weekend to record a blowout 92-53 victory over All Saints Slam when they met in the first game of a double-header at the JSC basketball complex on Wednesday.

Flyers dominated the one-sided affair from start to finish, outscoring Slam 28-13 in the first quarter and 25-6 in the second quarter. The former champions continued to exert their authority in the third quarter to outscore their opponents 17-14 before winning the fourth and final quarter 22-20.

T-Shawn Lewis led the scoring for Flyers with 26 points, while grabbing six rebounds. He was assisted by Jabari Williams who sank 20 points and pulled 14 rebounds, while there were contributions of 19 and 15 points respectively from Javonte Daley and Eric Joseph.

In a losing effort, John Rolland Jr top-scored for Slam with 10 points off the bench. He also grabbed eight rebounds.

In Wednesday’s other fixture, Ovals Ojays enjoyed a 96-63 win over Ottos Full throttle.

Ovals dominated all four quarters of the contest with 27-19, 25-17, 19-14 and 25-13 scores across the 12-minute quarters.

Joshua Minner led the way for Ovals with a game-high of 34 points, while Kareem Edwards contributed with 18. Mario Davis had 15 points and 11 rebounds off the bench while there was 13 points and 13 rebounds for Alexis Jackson.

Lincoln Weekes top-scored with 25 points for Full Throttle, while Warren Bogle sank 16 points.
