Flyers and Stingerz record wins in ABBA

Former Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division One champions, Flyers Basketball, began their 2020 season on a winning note, defeating Ottos Full Throttle 75-69.

The feature encounter at the JSC Sports Complex on Thursday night saw Kenya Achom lead the Orange men to victory with 20 points, seven rebounds and 10 steals.

He was assisted by national player, Sharife Sergeant, who netted 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Kwame “Special K” Brathwaite, another national player, chipped in sinking 17 points and snatched eight rebounds.

Ottos’ Lincoln Weekes had a game-high 28 points, while teammate, Kwame Payne, made 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a losing effort.

Northside Stingerz were also victorious that night, trouncing Idea Media Outlaws 103-74.

Keroi “Dragon” Lee led the charge for last year’s playoffs runners-up, netting 28 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Devorn Benjamin contributed sinking 14 while teammates, Kenroy Telemaque and Vivian “Boast” Destin, chipped-in scoring 11 each. Telemaque snatched an additional 14 rebounds and secured five steals.

New addition, Ahkeem Boyd out of Trinidad and Tobago, made 10 points.

Outlaws’ Daniel Perez netted 24 points while teammate Ishan Peets sank 23.

Games will continue on Saturday night at 6:45 p.m. as Rockersville will play F and G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays while at 8:30 p.m. Ottos Full Throttle will battle Baldwin Spencer Braves.
