Flyers 2 were big winners in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division 2 on Sunday, blowing out Pointville Ballers by 30 points at the JSC basketball complex.
Playing in what turned out to be the lone contest on the night, Flyers 2 led the scoring in all four quarters to win 77-40. Flyers outscored their opponents 15-13 in the first quarter, 17-9 in the second, 25-4 in the third and 20-14 in the fourth and final quarter.
Craig Massiah and Sadiq Phillip top scored for Flyers 2 with 17 points each. Massiah grabbed nine rebounds while Phillip had 12 in the all-round performances. There were contributions of 11 points each from Jaheem James and Adrian Carnegie. James also pulled 10 rebounds.
In a losing effort, Devon Christian had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Ballers while Najee Simon sank nine points and grabbed six rebounds also in a losing effort.
Meanwhile, Wadadli Elite 1 triumphed by default over Ovals Superiors after the latter could not field a team for the fixture.
On Saturday, New Generation Slam edged Rebels 55-53 also at the JCS venue.
The lead switched hands multiple times during the evenly contested game with Slam taking the first quarter 13-11, Rebels taking the second quarter 16-14 and Slam claiming the third by a 17-13 margin. Rebels claimed the fourth and final quarter 13-11 but fell just two points shy of tying the scores and send the game to overtime.
Kim Casey top-scored for Slam with 12 points while Keaddy Martin hit 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. John Roland contributed with nine points and a game-high 17 rebounds.
Tyndale Telemaq top-scored with 17 points for Rebels while pulling eight rebounds while Zuri Nesbitt hit 10 points. Bruce Whyte contributed with nine points and eight rebounds.
