Five more local cricket umpires from the Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Umpire’s Association (ABCUP) are now fully qualified after they have successfully attained passes in the final examination set by the West Indies Cricket Umpires Association (WICUA).
Elkana Charles, Ivor Lewis, Bernard Joseph, Andrew Greaves and Dick Schouten have been presented with their certificates of achievement from secretary/treasurer of the Leeward Islands Cricket Umpires Association, Austin Christopher.
The five umpires join the elite panel of qualified umpires in Antigua & Barbuda making a total of 11 active members.
The others are senior umpire Clancy Mack who is presently on the ICC list of international umpires, Austin Christopher, James “Sunsun” Stevens, Alvin James-Knight, Myron “BoBo” James and Kenrick Lawrence.
The others who are qualified but not active are Pat Whyte, Rawl Benn, Walston Bowen, Hudson Knight, Vernon Christopher, Vanroy Burnes, Austin Edwards, Reginald Peterson and Jeremiah “DoDs” Joseph.
There are others who have gone to the world beyond including Gerald Henry, Percy Henry, Malcolm Nicholas and Lawrence “Nookie” Joseph.
In the meantime, the Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Umpires Association (ABCUA) is currently recruiting male and female members and interested persons can contact President James Steven at 773-8480.
