A three-bedroom house, located on Christian Street, Gray’s Farm, was destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon.
The wooden structure, owned by an Old Road family, was occupied by two men, one of whom is an employee of Jumby Bay.
A next door neighbour told OBSERVER media that she was in her bathroom around 12:45 p.m. yesterday when she saw smoke coming from the front bedroom of the house.
The woman said she informed her husband and other neighbours, they immediately sprang into action, using buckets and other containers of water to douse the flames.
The St. John’s Fire Department responded to the call around 12:50 pm and the firefighters worked diligently to put out the blaze.
Officials from the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) were also on the scene and temporarily disconnected the electricity to the area. No one was at home during the blaze, and all of its contents were also destroyed.
