Film association appoints roving ambassador

Dr Noel Howell, an Antiguan-born film producer and director residing in the United States of America, has been appointed roving film ambassador of the Motion Picture Association of Antigua & Barbuda.

As the ambassador, Dr Howell will represent Antigua & Barbuda at international meetings and will highlight and promote the country’s local film industry, a release from the association said. Dr. Howell is also a member of the planning committee for the inaugural film festival the association is planning for November of this year.

Dr Howell is currently in Jamaica attending the Jamaica Film Festival, where his latest film Redemption of Paradise is an official selection.

Redemption of Paradise will soon be released in Antigua & Barbuda, the release added.

Dr Howell also directed Once in an Island, a motion picture produced by Dr Alvin Edwards and Renee Phillips, and Book of Songs, which was recently released on cable in the US.

Presently, Once in an Island, which premiered at the Deluxe Cinema last year, is in post audio production to improve the audio quality before going to DVD and film festivals.
