Fencing To Debut As NOC Names CAC Team

The Antigua and Barbuda National Olympic Committee (NOC), on Friday, announced the country’s team for 2018
Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games to be held in Barranquilla, Colombia, from July 19 to August 3.
Antigua and Barbuda will compete in six disciplines: athletics, swimming, lawn tennis, fencing and beach volleyball.
The delegation will be headed by Phillip Isaacs Sr. as the Chef de Mission along with Eric Henry as the Administrative Assistant.
This year’s participation will also hold historic value for Antigua and Barbuda as, for the first time, we will field an athlete in the sport of fencing with Marcel Maurice flying the country’s flag in Colombia. He will be managed by Rameez Mascall, who is an executive member of the Antigua and Barbuda Fencing Federation (ABFF).
Nyota Peters and Joelle Thomas will represent the country in Beach Volleyball while veteran national player, Olsen Joseph, will manage the team. Former national player, Henry Matthew, will attend as a FIBA Referee.
Swimming will be represented by Samantha Roberts, Makaela Holowchak, Stefano Mitchell and Noah Mascoll-Gomes. The Swimming team will be managed by Nelson Molina Fojo.
Rhone Kirby and Jules Mitchell will represent sailing at the games while the team will be managed by Ashley Rhoades.
Lawn tennis will feature a start-studded line up of Jody Maginley, Cordell Williams Jr., Carlton Bedminister, D’jeri Raymond, Allicia Williams, Selene Kentish along with Cordell Williams Sr. as team manager.
Cehjae Greene, Priscilla Frederick, Bliss Solynn and Taeco O’Garro all
qualified for the games but confirmation, according to the NOC, has not come from the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) as to which of the athletes will represent the country.
The NOC went on to state that full confirmation has come for Greene and Frederick. The team will be managed by Heather Samuel- Daley.
The team is slated to travel to Colombia in stages with sailing and swimming being the first to leave Antigua while tennis, beach volleyball, fencing and athletics will travel next week.
