Female tennis players to serve country’s hopes in Billie Jean King Cup

A four-member team will represent Antigua and Barbuda at this year’s Billie Jean King Cup tennis tournament, slated for August 5-10 in Tacarigua, Trinidad and Tobago.

The team, which comprises Sibley CharlesJanae George AlexanderJolie George Alexander and Sydney Kentish, will play in Group III alongside Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Jamaica, St Lucia and hosts, Trinidad and Tobago.

The 10 teams will however be placed in two groups of five following the draw at the start of the tournament with the two top teams in each group battling for promotion.

The 2024 Billie Jean King Cup is the 61st edition of the tournament, which is the female equivalent of the Davis Cup.

Antigua and Barbuda recently returned from Trinidad where they competed in the Davis Cup, winning one of their three matches.

Captain/coach for the Billie Jean King Cup team is Cordell Williams.
