A 71-year-old Buckley’s man has been missing from his home since Monday.

George Attwood was last seen at his home by neighbours. His disappearance is being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) which visited the man’s residence to interview relatives and acquaintances yesterday morning.

Attwood’s great-niece told OBSERVER media she was baffled, describing Attwood as a quiet man who lives alone in a remote part of Buckley’s.

She described him as a “tall person, a little over six feet, slim in build, he has a grey beard on his face and is brown skinned, not very dark”.

The great-niece added that Attwood’s usual mode of attire is short pants, paired with a buttoned-down shirt with the chest open and that he may have been wearing this when he went missing.

Neighbours visited Attwood’s home on Monday and saw that it was empty and in an unusual state with the doors open, but did not think much of the state of the house until they went back on Tuesday and found it unchanged. This was when they alerted the family who reported the matter to police at All Saints Police Station on Tuesday.

Police issued a release seeking the public’s assistance with finding the senior citizen.

Anyone with information is asked to call the family on 764-3733 or the police station on 460-1000/1001/1002.
