A popular fete promoter and Disc Jockey (DJ) is currently on trial in the High Court on charges of serious indecency and indecent assault for which he pleaded not guilty.

The offence was allegedly committed in 2017 when the accused left a popular nightclub with a promo girl and went to the beach at around midnight.

It is alleged that the entertainer sexually assaulted the young woman when she refused to have sex with him.

Yesterday, during the second day of the trial, a witness for the defence testified to having received text messages and screenshots from the accused in an attempt to prove that the defendant is not guilty.

The judge, after having to retrieve WhatsApp messages from the witness’ phone, entered the printed copies into evidence.

The judge said that at face value, the messages appear to contradict statements previously made by the virtual complainant.

The trial is expected to continue today.
