Enforcers and Paragons were winners in the Antigua and Barbuda Volleyball Association (ABVA) league when action resumed at the indoor facility at the YMCA Sports Complex on Thursday.
Playing in the men’s division, the Michael Freeland-sponsored Enforcers defeated Renegades by a 3-0 sets margin in the feature contest. Enforcers claimed the first set 25-17 before dominating the second set 23-03 and finishing off the one-sided contest with a 23-0 rally in the third and final set.
Meanwhile in the women’s division, Paragons defeated Stoneville 4-1 in sets, winning the first by a 27-17 margin before taking the second 25-19. Stoneville rebounded to take the third set 25-22 but could not win back-to-back matches, going under 25-19 in the fourth set.
There was action on Thursday as well with North Coast Hardware Starz 1 claiming a 3-1 victory over their sister team, North Coast Hardware Starz 2, in the women’s division.
Starz 1 claimed back-to-back sets, winning 25-07 and 25-10 before Starz 2 clinched the third set 25-19. Starz 1 however ended the contest with a 25-17 win in the fourth and final set.
Also on Thursday, Sharks defeated JanServe Events Cool & Smooth Storming Lions 3-2 in the men’s division.
In the see-saw type contest, Sharks won the first set 25-17 before Lions roared back to take the second set 25-23. The third set went to Sharks 25-23 while Lions leveled the playing field once more by taking the fourth set 25-12.
Sharks then claimed the deciding set by a 15-10 margin to wrap up the contest.
