Former 13-times Premier Division champions, Empire FC, rebounded from their 3-0 loss to Jennings United last week to beat Freeman’s Village Scorpions 2-0 when they met in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) First Division on Tuesday.
Playing at Freeman’s Village, Empire scored both goals in the second half with Nyque Watkins putting the visitors ahead on minute 46 while Dayron Michel Mesa sealed all three points for Empire with an 88th minute conversion.
There was victory as well for Ottos Rangers as they had the better of Urlings FC by a 2-0 margin to remain unbeaten in the First Division. Kylano Isaac put Rangers ahead in the 20th minute before Jazaire Whyte added a second and the eventual decider just three minutes later.
Also on Tuesday, Tryum FC defeated Bendals 4-3 in an exciting clash at Bendals.
Romain Gordon led the charge for Tryum with a double, netting in minutes eight and 75 while Adonis Henry (21) and Leon Moses Jr (55) both scored once. For Bendals, Jevon Francis (12), Daiquan Martin (28) and Mitchell Edwards (78) all scored once for Bendals.
Meanwhile, in the Second Division, Bluejays enjoyed a 2-0 triumph over Tamo FC. Marlene Francis in the 30th and Kishorn Hamilton in the 55th were both on target for Bluejays.
