Empire and Freemansville increase chances of promotion

Fourteen-time ABFA Premier Division champions LIME Empire and Freemansville have increased their chances of returning to the top division next season with valuable wins as First Division football nears completion.

Playing at King George V Ground, Empire beat Liberta 2 goals to nil on Tuesday to move up to 39 points. Yufu Lake scored both goals for Empire in the 19th and 39th minutes.

In Freemansville, the home team won by default since Island Fence Jennings United could only field 5 players. Freemansville move up to 41 points.

The encounter between Point West Ham and Kite Antigua English Harbour at English Harbour ended in a goalless draw.

When First Division matches continue on Thursday, the other 3 teams in the promotion race will be in action – Bullets, Sea View Farm and Island Tent Rentals Plus Swetes.

Bullets will travel to Bethesda for their encounter, Sea View Farm will take on the Real Blizzard at Police Recreation Ground and Golden Stars of Urlings will battle Swetes at John Hughes.
