Stedman Scotland, the 82-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted by police officers during a parking dispute, has been charged with battery and resisting arrest.
The charges come after video footage circulating on social media showed Scotland being shoved, struck, and forcibly thrown to the ground before being placed in the trunk of a police vehicle last week.
Scotland, who reportedly suffers from the effects of a previous brain injury and displays a disability sticker on his vehicle, was involved in an altercation that witnesses described as stemming from a disagreement over parking on the sidewalk in front of a barbershop.
The case continues to draw attention on social media where the video of the confrontation first gained public notice.
