A farmer knocked off his bicycle in an apparent hit and run more than a week ago has shown little sign of improvement.

Cecil “Steven” Alphonse remains in the hospital’s intensive care unit on ventilator support.

The 78-year-old was reportedly struck by an unknown motorist on December 5 while on the way to his Creekside farm to tend to his animals.

He was discovered lying in the bushes by a passer-by who spotted the bicycle and went to his aid.

Alphonse is said to have suffered facial fractures and a chest injury and remains in need of blood.

Family members and friends are appealing to anyone able to do so – and of any blood type – to come forward to donate.

Police did not respond to a request for an update on the investigations into the incident up to news time.
