The Second Division of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association saw exciting action on Monday, as Earthquake FC lived up to their name with a thunderous 4-1 victory over Herberts FC at the ABFA Technical Center.
Earthquake FC rumbled throughout the match, creating the greater majority of goal scoring opportunities, particularly in a first-half spell that saw them take control of the match.
Alren Lewis opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, and before Herberts could regain their composure, National youth player Shumba Thomas doubled the lead just three minutes later.
The second half proved equally challenging for the Herberts side as the victors maintained their momentum.
Raheim Andre extended the lead in the 70th minute, followed shortly by Tarice Wilson‘s strike in the 73rd, effectively putting the game beyond reach.
Herberts managed to salvage some pride through Jareed Browne‘s consolation goal in the 89th minute, but it was too little too late.
The result highlighted a day of mixed fortunes in local football, which also saw a goalless draw in the Premier Division and a forfeited match in the Second Division in which West Ham FC failed to show up for their scheduled match against Young Warriors FC.
In Premier Division action, Attacking Saints FC and John Hughes FC played out a tepid goalless draw, with neither side able to break the deadlock despite 90 minutes of football.
