The LL Supply Ltd Island Boys Sports Club (IBSC) 20-over Tape Ball Classic 2024 saw an eventful Sunday with GP Eagles soaring past PEL Desi Boys as Dredgers demolished Pete’s Landscaping 300.

At Powells, GP Eagles had a commanding eight wicket victory over PEL Desi Boys. After winning the toss, Desi Boys struggled to post a competitive total, managing only 77 runs in 13.2 overs, as Iverson Joseph (20) and Frederick Floyd (13) were the top scorers in an otherwise lacklustre batting display.

The Eagles’ bowling attack proved too strong for Desi Boys with Kerry Mentore four for 14, Kerrique Mentore two for 21 and Yohanne Marcellin two for 24.

In response, GP Eagles made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just seven overs. Kerry shone with the bat as well, scoring an unbeaten 53, supported by his son Kerrique who had 16 not out.

In Potters, Dredgers showcased their all-round skills with a resounding ten wicket win over Pete’s Landscaping 300. Pete’s Landscaping won the toss but could only muster 74 runs for nine wickets in 14 overs. Justin Pereira (13) and Jared Roberts (11) were the only batsmen to reach double figures.

Dredgers’ bowling attack was led by Jaquan Athanaze three for nine runs with Loy Weste collecting two for 18 runs. The Dredgers’ chase was a display of dominance, as they reached the target without losing a wicket in just 5.1 overs. Mervin Higgins (45 not out) and Jaquan Athanaze (29 not out) ensured a swift and decisive victory.

Unfortunately, two matches fell victim to the weather as the matchup between Brysons Shipping Insurance Bullets and Buckleys 3J’s was abandoned after just 1.1 overs, with Buckleys 3J’s racing to 36 for 0 before rain intervened.

The other encounter between Pelican Safari/The Nest Beach Bar and Restaurant VIP and PMS (Potters), had more play before being abandoned. PMS had reached 35 for 2 in 6.2 overs when rain forced a halt to the proceedings.
