Two men who face multiple joint charges relating to possession of gun and ammunition have been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison.
Shiloh Martin and Wayne Knowles made their first court appearance before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel yesterday in the District B Magistrate’s Court.
The police charged the two Table Hill Gordon, Liberta men for possession of one Taurus .40 pistol, a Smith and Wesson 9mm firearm, 20 rounds of ammunition, two 9mm magazines, and four ballistic vests.
The men’s attorney, Damian Benjamin, asked for disclosure, citing several concerns about the investigation, including the distance on the property where the illegal items were purportedly found. and the precise location.
Benjamin expressed concern that the area where the items, which he claims were dug up by the police, and were not on the farm where the two defendants reside.
Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel advised the attorney that she has no jurisdiction to grant bail for gun-related offences, and therefore he would have to make application in the High Court on behalf of his clients.
Twenty-five-year-old Knowles and 22-year-old Martin are scheduled to return to court on January 22, 2025.
Knowles and Martin were arrested and charged after the police executed a search warrant at their home in the early hours of October 16.
During the exercise, the lawmen had detained a number of other people, including three juveniles, who were at the home at the time.
They were also taken into custody but were later released without being charged.
