Double wins for Police in Parish League cricket

Police came away four-wicket winners over PIC Liberta Blackhawks in the ACB Caribbean Parish League Richie Richardson Limited Overs Competition on Sunday.

Playing at Police Recreation Ground (PRG), Liberta posted 125 all out in 32.5 overs with a top knock of 48 from Michael Greaves, while Javid Richardson added 29. James Cornelius was the pick of the bowlers for the lawmen, claiming three for 14. There were two wickets each for Vincent Shadrach Jr, Orandel Boston and Lashorn Barnarde.

When their turn at the crease arrived, Police reached 127 for six in 30.5 overs. Jeron Jones hit a top score of 29, while Damon Valentine made 21. Uri Smith picked up two wickets for 18 runs while Greaves had two for 19 bowling for Blackhawks.

The lawmen’s victory over Blackhawks came just 24 hours after they had beaten Mahico by seven wickets in their opening contest on Saturday.

Batting first, Mahico were all out for 163 with Ian Title making 47 and Omarley Hilinger adding 43. James Cornelius was the pick of the bowlers for Police with three for 21, while Damon Valentine snagged two wickets for 13 runs.

The lawmen then cruised to 164 for three with Jeron Jones getting 69 not out. Valentine contributed with 36.

Meanwhile, there was victory for Newfield over St Paul’s as they rallied to a six-wicket triumph on the weekend.

St Paul’s, batting first, were routed for 80 all out with Kadeem Henry hitting 35. Jahiem Norde bagged four for 20 while Shamar Pereira snagged three wickets for just five runs bowling for the victors.

Newfield then raced to 83 for four with Norde hitting a top score of 44 and Pereira 16. Henry claimed three wickets for 11 runs.

There was victory as well for Sea View Farm as they defeated Newfield by 65 runs. Farm amassed a huge 245 for six in their 35 overs with Hilroy Andrew slamming 112. Jelani Mussington chipped in with 42. Cheyonne Walsh was the pick of the bowlers for Newfield, claiming two wickets for 34 runs.

Newfield, when their turn at the crease arrived, reached 180 all out in 28.5 overs. Shacoy Floyd hit a top score of 83. Bowling, Egbert Philip snagged three wickets for 17 runs while Andrew picked up two for 29.

Also, Mahico beat Willikies by six wickets. Led by Deran Benta who made 112, Willikies amassed 247 for eight. Dean Williams contributed with 39. Taiem Tonge snagged three for 46 and Jedidiah Martin had two for 33 bowling for Mahico.

When their turn at the crease arrived, Mahico reached 250 for four with Dahari Francis hitting a top score of 81 and Martin making 71. Malique Walsh contributed with 42.
