National bodybuilder and IFBB Elite Bikini Fitness Pro, Ambassador Kimberly Percival is aiming for a fifth Sportswoman of the Year accolade as she seeks to become the most decorated female athlete in the country’s history.
Percival, who is fresh off a first place finish at the IFBB Pro Chile event on November 24, said she has worked tremendously hard this year in an effort to achieve her goal of surpassing former middle and long distance runner, Janill Williams with whom she is currently on level terms, having both won four national awards.
“I am anxiously anticipating sports awards. I think I’ve worked really hard and what I am bringing to the table is likely to come out with a success for me and in fact, if I am awarded next year then that would be my fifth sports awards and I think that if my count is correct then obviously it would be the most sports awards for anybody representing the sport of bodybuilding which is another level of achievement for myself, for the sport and I think it would be the most awards for one athlete or one female,” she said.
Williams won the Sportswoman of the Year title in 1997,98,99 and in 2001 while Percival has won the accolade in 2016, 2017, 2022 and 2023.
The athlete said she has decided to officially shut her season down as it has been long and hard.
“I would have started preparations in February in anticipation of my first show in May and I am still going now at the end of November going into December so I am definitely not looking at doing anything in the earlier part of next year and more than likely, will aim for the fall season to just give my body a very nice long break, recovery, reset in anticipation is bringing an even better Kimberly for 2025,” Percival said.
Percival’s recent triumph in Chile comes on the heels of victory at the IFBB Pro Cancun 2024 last weekend and some two weeks after she would have grabbed silver in the IFBB Night if Champions held in London.
On October 21, Percival topped the IFBB Pro Gran Gala Di Saint Vincent, just one week after she won the IFBB Elite Pro World Championship at the Arnold Classic Europe. Following her dominance at the Pro Cancun in October, Percival signalled that the Chile event would be her last for the year.
