With the ‘Sweet sixteen’ playoffs just around the corner, Dixie and Mill Reef recorded pivotal wins on Tuesday night at the JSC Sports Complex in the ongoing Cool and Smooth-sponsored Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Business League.
Dixie defeated Burton’s Laundry 56-48 in the first match of the double header.
Kelvyn Pimental and Pernell Phillip led the victors with 12 points each while for Burton’s Darren Jeanville sank 14.
Teammate, Bruce Whyte netted 12 points in a losing effort.
With this win, Dixie now move to the 9th spot with an 8-7 record while Burton’s Laundry dropped to 11th place with an 8-6 record.
Newbies, Mill Reef handed A-mobile Young Rivals their 15th loss of the season with an 53-48 win.
Elliott Samuel had a game high 24 points for the victors with assistance from Shane John who contributed with 11.
Young Rivals’ Jeffery George had 17 points while teammates Delonte Scotland chipped in with 15.
Teammates, Brian Edwards and Jaheem Osbourne sank 10.
Mill Reef now find themselves in the 17th spot being edged out by one point by another new team, FLOW.
Young Rivals however remain at the bottom of the 20-team standings.
