The DEWS lumber yard worker who was injured in a freak accident at the Old Parham Road business last week is said to be doing fine and receiving the best possible care.

The company posted an update on its official Facebook page on Saturday, noting that the injured man is being supported by his family and colleagues, and is expected to make a full recovery.

The company also extended gratitude to members of the public who had inquired about the man’s wellbeing. “Your kind words were greatly appreciated,” it added.

No further details were shared about the man or the extent of his injuries.

The incident was made public following the circulation of a video that showed lumber falling on a man who appeared to be bending down and fixing something, and workers rushing to his aid. He was subsequently taken to hospital.

When Observer visited DEWS last week, a member of staff told our reporter only that the matter had been handled.
