The Dredgers Cricket Club secured a dominant four-wicket win over the Nest Beach Bar & Restaurant VIP on Sunday in the LL Supply Ltd & Total Imports Island Boys Sports Club (IBSC) 20 over Tape Ball Classic at the Potters Playing Field.
The eliminator saw Dredgers demonstrate their championship credentials with a four-wicket victory over The Nest Beach Bar & Restaurant VIP. Chasing 118 for victory, Dredgers reached their target with five overs to spare, led by Loy Weste’s 23 runs and useful contributions from Mike France (18) and Jedidah Martin Jnr (13).
Earlier, VIP had been restricted to 118 all out in 16.4 overs, despite solid innings from Kadeem Josiah (25), Amahl Nathaniel (22), and Michael Dover (19). J’Quan Athanaze led the Dredgers’ bowling attack with three for 13, well supported by Jedidah Martin Jnr three for 42 and Justin Athanaze two for 16.
The stage is now set for an exciting conclusion to the tournament, with Dredgers set to face Buckleys 3J’s in the final at Powell’s on Sunday, November 10th. Both teams will be eager to claim the 2024 Tape Ball Classic crown in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
Also featured on the day was an exciting women’s all-star match that saw KC Plumbing Potters Uprising defeat Wayne’s Electrical Services Survivors by 35 runs. Stacey Telemaque starred with 54, including six fours and two sixes, while Kushana David contributed 20 runs as Potters Uprising posted 137/5 from their 15 overs.
In reply, Survivors managed 102 all out, with Kimberly Anthony (33) and Grace Persaud (22) leading their effort. The Potters Uprising bowling attack shared the wickets, with Kushana David, Tawana John, and Shenell Greene each claiming two wickets.
