A resident of Cooks Extension returned home to find his house burglarized, with thieves making off with $3,000 in cash along with various personal belongings.
The break-in, discovered by Trion Williams on January 4, occurred while the house was unoccupied between 7:30am and 5pm.
The burglars broke a section of glass from a southwestern bedroom window to gain entry, with police investigators noting that the opening was just large enough for someone of slim to medium build to slip through.
Beyond the theft of the substantial amount cash, which was stored in a black pouch along with important documents, the perpetrators also took food items, and a 20-pound cylinder of propane gas.
Police officers conducted interviews in the neighbourhood, though no witnesses have come forward with useful information.
The Evidence Recovery Unit of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda was called to process the scene for potential forensic evidence.
Meanwhile, another break-in occurred around 1:30pm in Swetes, where perpetrators removed a mosquito screen from a window before manipulating a northern door to gain entry.
The victim, Barbara Hunte, reported the theft of Apple EarPods, a wooden money box containing $700 in coins, and a bath towel.
Police later recovered the empty money box and towel during a search of the surrounding area.
