Silver medallist in the 100 meters sprint event at the 2021 North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Under-18 Championships, Ajani Daley, leads a two-member team selected to fly Antigua and Barbuda’s flag at this year’s Pan American Under-20 Championships from August 4-6 in Puerto Rico.

Daley, who will compete in both the 100 and 200 meters, qualified for the Pan American Championships after he registered a third place finish at this year’s Cool & Smooth National Track & Field Championships with a time of 10.39 seconds.

The team, released by the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABBA) this week, also includes debutant Shavique Bascus who is based in Atlanta, Georgia. The former All Saints Secondary School student is the current Georgia High School champion in the 100 and 200 meters.

Bascus is set for a move to the University of Georgia for the Fall semester.

Former national athlete Ted Daley will accompany the team as manager/coach.
