Daley gets 200 meters silver in St Kitts

Junior Sportsman of the Year for 2019, Ajarni Daley, grabbed silver in the 100 meters event at the 2020 National Bank Private, Primary and Secondary Schools Championships held in St Kitts last weekend.

The 15-year-old Princess Margaret School student clocked a time of 10.90 seconds to finish behind of 18-year-old Royden Peets of St Kitts, who clocked 10.77 to win the race. Nevis’ Kamarley Newton was third in a time of 10.93 seconds.

Daley then returned to put on a credible performance in the 200 meters, finishing fourth in a time of 22.66 seconds.

He was bettered by Terrone Webster of Anguilla who won in a time of 22.23 seconds while Newton and Akadianto Willett, both of Nevis, finished second and third, respectively.

One other Antiguan athlete, Kiron O’Garro, registered a sixth place finish in the 400 meters, clocking 52.91 seconds. The race was won by Rafique Morson of St Kitts in a time of 50.36 seconds, while Willett and Shamar Caines, both of Nevis, were second and third respectively.
