Daley, Dyett Win Medals At NACAC Championships

Sensational youth sprinter Ajani Daley grabbed gold while his female counterpart Alyssa Dyett won bronze for Antigua and Barbuda at the NACAC Age Group track & field held in El Salvador over the weekend.

Daley – son of former national sprinter turned coach, Heather Samuel-Daley, and Teddy Daley who is also a former athlete turned coach – clocked 9.13 seconds to finish ahead of the field in the Under-15 Boy’s 80 meters dash. His time was just off the meet record of 9:09 seconds.

The young Antiguan finished ahead of Kendrick Gordon of Belize who clocked 9:52 seconds while Lyndon Johnson and Keone John of the Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago, respectively, were third and fourth.

Dyett, who competed in the 80 meters, registered a time of 10:12 seconds for her bronze medal finish. She was bettered by Jagnae DeGannes of Trinidad and Tobago and BVI’s Mia McIntosh who were first and second respectively.

The athletes, who were accompanied by coach Heather Samuel-Daley, are expected to return on Monday afternoon.
