Daggers wound Beach Boys, Coolers chill Ojays in Division Two basketball

Old Road Daggers claimed a 111-110 double overtime victory over Bolans Beach Boys in Division Two of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) competition on Monday, recording their first victory in as many showings thus far.

Ariel Quallis led the scoring for Daggers with 40 points and 10 rebounds, while Kevin Cornwall scored 26 points off the bench. There were also contributions of 16 points each from Ezekiel Francois and Craig Thomas, while Francois also grabbed 24 rebounds.

In a losing effort, Tyndale Telemaque shot a game-high 48 points and nine rebounds. Brian Aaron also contributed to his team’s efforts with 20 points and 17 rebounds. Devea Aaron was also on target for Beach Boys with 15 points.

Scores in the game were tied 83-83 at the end of the fourth quarter before both teams ended level at 94-94 at the end of the first overtime period. Daggers then went on to win the contest 111-110.

Meanwhile, in another close contest, Ottos Coolers edged Cuties Ovals Ojays 63-61. Lincoln Weekes was best on show for Coolers with 19 points and nine rebounds with Yannick Samuel contributing 13 points and snatching 14 rebounds. In a losing effort, Danny Perez dropped 16 points

There was victory as well for Spanish Heat as they scorched Police Vertex 67-47. Rolando Hamilton led the charge for Spanish Heat with 18 points and 20 rebounds while Edgar Obispo contributed 12 points to the effort. Gavin Walker was the only scorer of note for Vertex with 19 points and seven rebounds. In the other Division Two showdown, F&G Ovals Ojays edged Young Warriors 53-49. Reginald Barnes and Aiden Cannonier sank 22 and 20 points in the winning effort while Kofi James top-scored for Warriors with 28 points
