‘Dadli Spikers’ off to winning start in men’s regional volleyball tournament

Team Antigua and Barbuda got off to a winning start in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship being held here at the YMCA Sports Complex.

Dubbed the “Dadli Spikers,” Antigua and Barbuda recorded a comfortable 3-0 set victory over Anguilla in the feature clash of a triple-header at the indoor volleyball facility on Wednesday night.

The home team won 25-14, 25-15 and 25-20 to claim the comprehensive victory in the match which lasted a total of two hours and 53 minutes.

Also on Wednesday, Dutch St Maarten were 3-2 set winners over Dominica to get their campaign off to a winning start as well. St Maarten won the first set 25-23 before Dominica stormed back to take the second and third sets by similar 25-22 margins. The fourth and the fifth sets went to St Maarten 25-23 and 15-9 respectively.

In the other match contested Wednesday, St Lucia were 3-2 winners over St Vincent & the Grenadines.

St Lucia claimed the opening set by a 25-22 margin while SVG won the second set 25-18. The momentum switched hands once more with St Lucia claiming the third set 25-23 before SVG stormed back to win the fourth set 25-18.

St Lucia however snatched victory with a 15-13 triumph in the fifth and final set.
