An early goal by striker Tevaughn “Peter Redz” Harriette on his return to action following a long layoff due to injury, was not enough to save former champions Parham from a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tryum in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Premier Division on Monday.

Harriette, who recently contested the general elections in the St Peter constituency under the United Progressive Party (UPP) banner, struck in the 16th minute when he collected a pass just inside the 18 yards box, turned and hit past the Tryum custodian to give Parham a one nil advantage.

Parham managed to hold on to the lead going into the interval and into the latter stages of the second half but it all fell apart in the last five minutes of the contest.

Chevel Cunningham scored his first of two goals in the 85th minute when he headed home a free-kick from amongst a cluster of defenders just on the edge of the six yards box. The strike drew Tryum level, but Cunningham was not done and found the winner in added time when he powerfully headed home a corner kick.

The win, their fifth in 12 matches, moves Tryum to 16 points and eighth in the standings while Parham remain on nine points from the same number of showings.

Also on Monday, Garden Stars defeated West Ham 2-0 when they met in the First Division to remain at the top of the standings.

Dylan Martin and Sedique Adams each scored once for the victors with Martin netting in the eighth minute and Adams in the 62nd to move Stars to 34 points from 12 matches, 11 points ahead of second placed John Hughes. West Ham are second from bottom with eight points.
