Caribbean Union Bank (CUB) is pleased to announce its continued sponsorship of the Ministry of Education’s Inter-Secondary School Debate Series and Impromptu Speaking Competition for 2025.

This marks the seventh consecutive year that the bank has partnered with the Ministry to support this important event.

CUB recognizes the value of this competition in developing critical thinking, public speaking, and research skills among young people in Antigua and Barbuda. The bank believes that investing in education and youth development is crucial for the future of the nation, the bank indicated in a release.

“It is indeed the pleasure of Caribbean Union Bank to continue to demonstrate its support of this critical school initiative,” said Esron Gittens, Business Development Associate at Caribbean Union Bank.

“The skills that you will learn and develop in these encounters will take you from the classroom to the boardroom, even to the pulpit or parliament, to the newsroom, and a myriad of other places where you may be called to clearly articulate a point of view.”
The 2025 Inter-Secondary School Debate Series and Impromptu Speaking Competition, which began on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, will conclude on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

This annual series provides an excellent platform for 4th and 5th form students in both public and private secondary schools across Antigua and Barbuda to develop their public speaking skills and build self-confidence. This year, 13 schools will be participating, including the Sir McChesney George Secondary School from Barbuda.

The series will be recorded and broadcast on ABS TV every Tuesday at 6 pm, allowing the wider community to witness the impressive talents of these young debaters and impromptu speakers.

CUB looks forward to another successful year of collaboration with the Ministry and congratulates all the students who will be participating.
