Crushers thrash Travellers, Rebels continue to struggle

Yorks Crushers recorded their fifth win of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division One league on Saturday night with an 82-68 trouncing of Freetown Travellers. Playing at the JSC Sports Complex, Olivee Morris led the victors with 22 points and seven rebounds while teammate Gerard “Dumbo” Henry chipped in, netting 20 points. Decosta Walbrook chipped in, sinking 14 points and grabbing 19 rebounds.

Nigel “Snarks” Joseph also got in on the action with his 12-point, six assists performance. Travellers’ Humroy Wright had 13 points and four assists while teammate Teon Joseph contributed, scoring 12, grabbing six rebounds and making 10 assists. Former national player Morlon “Little” Davis and teammate Mark Samuel both sank 11 points in a losing effort. Davis added an additional 10 rebounds and six assists to his tally. Travelers now hold a 2-11 record.

NNL Distributors Total Imports Rebels continue to have a dismal debut season in the big yard as the newly promoted went under to HomeTech Systems Outlaws 81-75 in overtime. Despite a 20-point, 19 rebounds effort by Ariel Quallis, Rebels could not secure their second win of the season.

Outlaws’ Darren Jeanville led the victors to their second of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds. He was assisted by Andrew “Puss” Venture and Jason London who had 17 points and 13 points respectively. Teammates Ishaan Peets and Kevin “Pumpkin” Roberts contributed scoring 12.
