ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – St Maarten’s former Tourism Minister Theo Heyliger is advising Antigua and Barbuda to prioritize on getting cruise passengers to spend more in the country.
He says average passenger spend is more important than attracting more visitors here.
Heyliger says in order to attract more ships St John’s needs to find ways for cruise ships to make more money here.
Heyliger was speaking to a gathering of business leaders put on by the business alliance here this morning.
St. Maarten attracts around 1 and half million cruise passengers every year – three times more than the around half a million who visit Antigua.
