In a move to enhance the legislative process surrounding criminal justice, the cabinet has approved the establishment of a Criminal Justice Board.

This new body will play a crucial role in reviewing draft legislation on crime before it reaches Parliament.

The board will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including judges and magistrates specializing in criminal law, police representatives, the Prime Minister, the Attorney General, members of the Bar Association, religious leaders, business community representatives, the Director of Public Prosecutions, and delegates from private sector organizations and NGOs.

The Criminal Justice Board is expected to provide more comprehensive and informed input on proposed laws, potentially leading to more effective and widely accepted criminal justice reforms.
