The cabinet meeting on August 28, 2024 included a special farewell session for the outgoing CEO of Cricket West Indies, who is stepping down after a seven-year tenure.
The event was attended by high-profile guests including representatives from the West Indies Cricket Board, the manager of the Antigua Falcons, and the CEO of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
During the farewell, the Prime Minister, Attorney General, and Minister of Sports expressed their gratitude for the CEO’s contributions to West Indies cricket.
His tenure was marked by significant achievements, including the revival of the Caribbean Premier League and the enhancement of cricket programs for male and female players under 19 and 14 years old.
In recognition of his service and his seven-year residency in Antigua, the outgoing CEO was invited to become a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda.
The farewell also provided an opportunity for future planning.
The manager of the Antigua Falcons committed to elevating the team’s performance to instill national pride, while the CPL CEO outlined plans to further increase interest in cricket across the Caribbean region through more professional league play.
