The Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) could be forced to cancel its annual Tri Nation T20 Series this year.
This is according to President, Leon Rodney, who made the revelation while speaking on the Good Morning Jojo Sports Show.
“The Tri Nation Series, I believe it’s going to be a headache this year. We have not fully discussed it yet
but I can see it as clear as [day] and I am one who likes to be upfront because, if you look at the calendar you will see something reading the CWI Super50 in October,” he said.
Rodney went on to claim that an already packed Cricket West Indies (CWI) calendar and the hosting of the 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 in the Caribbean later this year, have left the cricket association with a fairly narrow window in which to have the event.
“If you check the whole schedule going down from September right through until the female world cup, I believe or I am not sure it is going to be advisable that it be done this year but as I said, we’ll have to look at it because if you look at the schedule yourself you are going to have to try and figure out where this is going to fit in so it is going to be very tight,” the president said.
The Antigua and Barbuda Master Blasters won the inaugural tournament in 2016 before Jamaica defeated Guyana in the finals of the 2017 tournament. (Neto Baptiste)
