Liberta Blackhawks, Bolans, Bethesda Golden Eagles and Pigotts Crushers will play in the semifinals of the State Insurance Corporation (SIC) sponsored Super40 Cricket Competition being hosted by the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association.
The four semifinalists were decided following the competition’s final round of preliminary matches on Saturday.
People’s Insurance Company (PIC) Blackhawks will host Pigotts Crushers in Liberta while Bolans will travel east where they will face home team, Caribbean Union Bank (CUB) Bethesda Golden Eagles in the other semifinal match on Saturday. Both matches will start at midday.
Rain affected the final round of matches on Saturday with Pigotts Crushers getting the only outright victory against All Saints, winning by nine runs.
Playing at home, Pigotts amassed 182 for five from 29 overs after batting first. Joshua Grant slammed 68 while Javier Drew made 50.
All Saints in reply, could only reach 173 for nine in their 29 overs. Kerry Mentore fell four runs short of a half century on 46 and Michael Dover hit 35. Tyrone Theophile bagged seven wickets for 41 runs.
Meanwhile, the contest between Blackhawks and Rising Sun was abandoned due to rain after Blackhawks had made 173 for nine in 37 overs.
The matches between Jennings and Combined Schools; New Winthorpes verus Empire; and Bethesda against Bolans, were all abandoned due to rain.
