A bench warrant has been issued for one of the women implicated in a major wig theft case.
Moesha Wright failed to turn up to court yesterday for her committal proceedings. Only her co-accused Natherna Rodgers was present.
Before issuing the warrant, acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason made note of the fact that Wright had been present for the last hearing on September 12 this year.
The committal proceedings have been set for January 29, 2025.
Wright and Rodgers, both residents of Bishopsgate Street, have been charged for receiving stolen goods valued at $127,675.
The duo was arrested and charged following an incident which occurred between March 31 and April 1 this year (2024) when Everything Hair 268, a popular hair store on Old Parham Road, was burglarised.
During the caper it is alleged that more than 100 wigs and various hair products were stolen.
Wright and Rogers were charged alongside a third person, Jahshsiene Green, who pleaded guilty to receiving specific stolen wigs costing $2,120. The stolen items were found in her possession when police executed a search warrant at her home on April 5. She was fined $700.
Due to the monetary value of the goods both women received, their matter has to be tried in the High Court.
