Coronavirus testing equipment arrives in Saint Lucia

(SNO) – Equipment to test for the deadly coronavirus has arrived in Saint Lucia, the island’s Chief Medical Officer, Sharon Belmar-George, has revealed.

She said at a press briefing on Wednesday morning, that it arrived on the island on Tuesday.

“The equipment for diagnostic testing for COVID-19 came in yesterday, so we have received the equipment to facilitate testing,” she stated.

She said that agents will be arriving on Thursday and lab staff will be trained next week on the use of the machine and the testing of the virus.

“So by the week of March 23, we should have the capacity for diagnostic testing here in Saint Lucia,” Belmar-George said.
