Cornwall, Thomas and Spencer in Tri20 training squad

Big hitting all-rounder Rahkeem “Jimbo” Cornwall and the wicketkeeper/batsman Devon “Booby” Thomas headlines a 24-man senior national training squad announced Wednesday by the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) as they jumpstart preparations for the Independence Tri20 Cricket Tournament here from 6-14 October.
Cornwall is currently with the struggling St. Lucia Stars while Thomas plays with the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the ongoing Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The training squad also includes former Leeward Islands and Antigua Hawksbills player Orlando Peters.
The experienced Gavin Tonge, also with the Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Hayden Walsh Jr., Jermaine Otto, Stanny Simon and Windies Under-19 player Javier Spencer have also been called for training.
The other selectees are Damien Lowenfield, Nino Henry, Tyrone Williams Jr., Michael Dover, Deran Benta, Owen Graham, Karima Gore, Kerry Mentore, Shavorn Moore, Vincent Shadrach Jr., Melvin Charles, Kofi James, Elroy Francis Jr., Uri Smith, Orandel Boston and Avier Christian.
The team is being coached by Kenneth Benjamin and John Archibald while Kenny Lewis is the manager.
The Tri20 tournament will be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground. (Neto Baptiste)
