Coolers advance to Division 2 finals, Elites draw first blood

Kennedy’s Ottos Coolers advanced to the finals of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division Two playoffs on Wednesday night.

Playing at the JSC Sports Complex, Coolers who are also the back to back League champions, defeated Anderson Carty Braves II 68-55 in the feature encounter to sweep Braves 2-0 in their best of three semi-finals match-up.

National player Danny Perez led the victors with 24 points and six rebounds while teammate Lincoln Weekes netted 22.

Teammates Daniel Perez and Shaquille Kelly contributed on the defensive ends of the floor as both players grabbed 12 rebounds.

Braves’ Ahmani Browne had 26 points and 14 rebounds while teammate Tristan Jacobs made 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Coolers will now face off versus Police Vertex in the Division Two finals starting on Saturday.

The finals follow a best of five format.

Defending Division Three playoff champions, Wadadli Eye Mobile Elites drew first blood in their best of five finals series after trouncing F and G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays III, 81-51.

Jayden Andrew was the leading scorer for the champions with 15 points, six rebounds, nine assists and six steals.

Teran Zachariah assisted with 15 points while Jevon Andrew sank 12 points.

Donte Trimmingham also got in on the action scoring 11 points and snatching five rebounds.

Deon “Harry” Jules was the lone player in double figures for Ovals III with 13 points.

Game 2 of their best of five finals is scheduled for Saturday at JSC.
