Confusion over colours

Electors turning up to vote in popular party colours have been turned away in some constituencies and asked to change before they return.
It’s a confusing situation as some are being allowed and others are not.
The message from the electoral commission has not been crystal clear…can voters wear party colours or is it that they are prohibited from wearing party paraphernalia such as scarfs and t-shirts with logos and labels with party related comments or images?
