July 14 will be the third time murder accused Berle Wallace Jr appears in the Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing a personal trainer.

Wallace Jr, 38, allegedly murdered Christopher Smithers of Friars Hill Development on March 1 2022.

According to reports, Smithers and Wallace Jr were involved in an altercation on St John’s Street at around 6.23pm that evening during which Wallace Jr stabbed Smithers.

Smithers, who was a trainer at Xtreme Fitness Club, was then rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for emergency treatment, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead just a few minutes later.

The defendant made his first appearance in the St John’s Magistrate’s Court three days after the tragic incident and was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison where he remains confined.

Yesterday was the second time the Villa man was brought to court for what was supposed to be his committal hearing, but the case was adjourned because the police file was still incomplete.

On the next occasion, Wallace Jr expects to find out if his case will be sent up to the High Court for him to enter a plea, or be thrown out due to a lack of evidence.
