Cleton Payne half century leads Freetown to impressive Parish League victory

Cleton Payne made 53 as Freetown won in the Sir Curtly Ambrose One Day Competition over the weekend

Freetown enjoyed the largest margin of victory in the ACB Caribbean Parish League Sir Curtly Ambrose One Day Competition over the weekend when they romped to a 150-runs triumph over Time of Victory Old Road.

Batting First, Freetown amassed 191 for six with Cleton Payne getting a half century at 53, while Javier Drew fell just four runs short of his half century with 46.

Old Road were then scampered out for just 41 runs. Drew was the pick of the bowlers for Freetown with six wickets for nine runs while Jared Phillip snatched three for six.

There was victory as well for Masters as they shackled Police to win by 28 runs.

Asked to bat, Masters posted 154 all out with Richie Thomas getting almost half of the team’s total with 76 runs. Lasharde Barnard was best with the ball for the opponents, claiming four wickers for 36 runs, while James Cornelius bagged three for 19.

When their turn at the crease arrived, Police fell short at 126 all out with their best effort coming from Malique Gerald and Shawnisha Hector who both made 22. There were three wickets each for Thomas (3/16), Gregg Skepple (3/34) and Vaughn Walsh (3/35).

Also over the weekend, Sea View Farm defeated Urlings.

Batting first, Urlings raised 125 before they were all out with Sean Bailey leading the charge with 38. Elroy Francis Sr. and Jamie Willock each made 22.

In the competition which allows teams to bat past their target in pursuit of bonus points, Farm got to 161 for nine to claim the match when their turn at the crease arrived. Tris Phillip top scored with 75 while Alfred Jarvis made 32. Kerry Burton bagged four wickets for 24 runs bowling for Urlings.

On Sunday, Sea View Farm and Old Road played to a draw while Police vs Mahico and Urlings vs Freetown were abandoned due to rain.
