Clare Hall claim Junior boys title

Clare Hall Secondary School (CHSS) claimed the Junior boy’s league title in the Cool and Smooth Inter-School Basketball league on Monday night when they edged out St. Anthony’s Secondary School (SASS) by a 24-23 margin at the Blackburn Basketball court in Villa.
Despite a 12-point effort by Jevonte Valerie, St. Anthony’s could not get over the hump to claim their first title.
Mckyron Payne led Clare Hall with 8 points.
He was assisted by Andre Edwards, Adrian Carniege and Jaheem James who sank 4 points each.
“I’m very proud of the guys, we stuck it out and pulled off a big win. It feels good to bring a title back to CHSS,” said Coach of the Clare Hall team, Edward “Eddie” Shaw.
Meanwhile, Liberta Primary retained their league championship in the Mini-girls Primary division as they defeated Combined Schools 8-4.
M. Browne, S. Thomas, K. Thomas and A. Francis all contributed with 2 points for the victors while Nefertiti Colbourne netted 4 points for Combined.
In the other Mini-girls Primary match-up, Charlesworth T. Samuel edged out J.T. Ambrose, 3-2.
S. Ogarro netted 2 points for the victors while Danica Garnett of J.T. Ambrose scored 2 points in a losing effort.
Cedar Grove Primary continued their winning ways as they hunt a championship in the Mini-boys Primary division, recording their 5th straight win in the competition, beating defending champions, Liberta Primary.
The 9-8 victory saw Craig Massiah lead the newbies with 3 points.
He was assisted by Shamar Frith and Naeem Joseph who both had 2 points.
Algernon Hodge of Liberta scored 6 points.
Villa Primary also found themselves in the winner’s circle as they trounced Charlesworth T. Samuel, 20-1.
Jahangello Williams led the west-side team with 6 points with teammates, Dequante Lloyd and Jahmarie Massiah netting 4 points respectively.
