A 48-year-old Villa resident has been identified as one of two people who allegedly broke into a church over the weekend.
Authorities say they recently arrested and charged Kanassa Robinson in connection with an incident at St John’s Pentecostal Church (SJPC) House of Restoration. Robinson faces multiple charges, including: attempted murder, robbery, break in and sacrilege.
He reportedly broke into the church on November 24 at approximately 3:30am along with another individual. During the intrusion, the suspects allegedly attempted to shoot at Apostle Dr Stephen Andrews, the church’s pastor. Despite three attempts, the weapon failed to discharge.
While the suspects ransacked two of the church’s offices, no items were reported stolen. However, they reportedly escaped in the pastor’s vehicle, valued at $10,000.
Robinson appeared in court Wednesday morning and was remanded pending his committal hearing March 18.
Meanwhile police are looking for a suspect(s) involved in a break-in and larceny at the Baptist Retreat Center at Pares.
It was reported that sometime between 1pm on Saturday, November 23 and 7:45am on Sunday, someone broke into the facility and stole two monitors, a quantity of agricultural produce, a gas cylinder, and other food items from the chapel.
The police are appealing to anyone with information surrounding both incidents to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913.
